Game Experience: Rochester Knighthawks

The Arena: Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester, NY

Pregame: If you arrive early, head over to Nick Tahou's for a garbage plate! The heated parking garage at BCA is awesome to park in during the winter and it also leads to the arena via tunnel. There are other close lots nearby, too. Also check out the team's website to see if they're offering interesting promotions. They recently offered a package that included 1 ticket + 2 breakfast sandwiches + drink tickets for a 1 pm game.

Fan Experience: The arena is pretty small, but the crowd is always loud. It's wild to attend because usually for me, it's when Buffalo plays there, and the rivalry is intense.

Knighthawks Owner and GM, Curt Styres, incorporates the Native American roots of lacrosse by having traditional dancers perform on the turf prior to opening face-off. Also to highlight, this season the team honored Louis Levi Oakies, a WWII Akwesasne Mohawk code talker.

Overall, Rochester is a solid NLL host. There might be only one concourse that loops the whole arena, but the fans are passionate and the legends that fill the roster provide great lacrosse. Unless you're posted way up (the upper rows of 214-216), there's really not a bad seat in the place.

The Eats: Typical arena food and newly-added poutine! ... It's alright.

Postgame: The Knighthawks do a good job with hosting postgame autographs on the turf. If you want to meet the visiting team, you can meet them at their coach bus around the arena. Dinosaur BBQ is also about a 5 minute walk from the arena!
